On August 4, 2008, our Home Shrine was consecrated on occasion of the celebration of Father Christian Christersen of Schoenstatt.
By creating Home Shrine, we invite Mary into our home, our family, to become part of our daily life.
We invite her to be our “partner” in our family life, our work and projects.
Mary delivers to us the grace she offers in her Filial Shrines: shelter, transformation and apostolate.
Her mission is to sanctify the family to the image of Nazareth and to strengthen the Sacrament of Matrimony.
You will find in our Shrine:
-the painting of the Mater; painted by the Benedictine Nuns of Santa María Madre de la Iglesia Monastery, in Uruguay.
We have always been closely related to this place of peace, since a beloved aunt of mine, Sor Mónica, is a Benedictine nun of said Monastery, where I, my children, my brothers and sisters and their children were all baptized.
The painting was made by sister Ana María, based on an image acquired at Schoenstatt’s house in Homestead, where the Florida Shrine will be built.
On reaching Miami, the painting was blessed by Father Christian in Schoenstatt House.
-the Cross of Unity, which was procured by my godmother Magdalena and my uncle Hugo, reached us a few days prior to the consecration.
They purchased it in Santuario de la Liberación in Argentina, took it to Uruguay, where my children were on vacation; and it was they who brought it to Miami ... a real pilgrimage.
-the image of Founding Father Joseph Kentenich, was compiled by my husband Santiago on his computer with the phrase of the Father “All for Schoenstatt, Schoenstatt for the Church and the Church for the Trinity”; I had it printed, made it look old and placed it on wood, looking like a painting.
-another similar painting is that of family signs, the picture of Nueva Helvecia Shrine in Uruguay and the virtues we wish to attain: faith, love , family, connection, peace, harmony, trust and joy. Says the prayer: “Mater, nothing without you, nothing without us”.
- Capital of Grace, coffer decorated with the image of the Mater, where we place our prayers.
-On the left is the Shrine sent by Kathy and Lucho of the Schoenstatt Shrine in Miami, as a gift to us on the same day of the consecration.
We chose where in the house to place Our Shrine.
Only days later did we realize..., looking at the ceiling right there, that it is shaped... just like the little Shrine house.
Don't miss this peculiarity next time you are here…
Our Home Shrine is called “Bethlehem”, as we wish this place to be like that which sheltered Saint Joseph and the Virgin Mary when they were preparing to receive Jesus. Home of peace.
We want to join Him on the journey.
All of you are invited to experience the grace of the Mater in our Home Shrine of Bethlehem. You may also send us your prayers to be offered to the Capital of Grace.
With Christ, her son, may the Virgin Mary bless us.
Graziella
